AR Game Alice

This game is adapted from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. It tells a series of fantasy stories after Alice chased a rabbit with a pocket watch and fell into a hole.

Based on modern interactive media technology and art, the game design intends to interpret this classic children's literature work in a brand-new form.  By using AR game technology and dynamic images, the game aims to improve children’s participation during reading. Meanwhile, it is also equipped with reading and music to help children understand the fun of the story by listening and watching. Of course, the audience of this game is not limited to children readers. Players of all ages can experience Alice's story again in AR as long as they make simple interaction via mobile phones.

Design And Download

The storybook is mainly in the design of children's picture book, using handwritten fonts and concise descriptions to reduce the difficulty of reading. Players only need to scan the poker card logo in the page with the mobile app to get the AR image of the content, and make the content truly "moving" during the interaction.

In order to maintain the overall fairy tale style, the background music sampled in the game is music box music and each chapter has its own soundtrack that fits the emotions. Meanwhile, vocal narration is also slower than usual with emotional changes in intonation to adapt to the understanding of younger users.

Maya, Unity, Premiere and other tools were mainly used in the production of this game. Among them, the AR production part is primarily completed by the Qualcomm AR component Vuforia (Vuforia Augmented Reality SDK) and the game engine Unity.
